Energy program
The aim of the program is to combat deforestation and poaching in the Congo Basin and reduce tensions between local populations, refugees and indigenous peoples living close to the habitat of the Grauer Gorillas, linked to the cutting and use of firewood and charcoal, by setting up a production chain for the balls of clay and improved energy-efficient stoves.
The production of embers results in the loss of hundreds of hectares of forest cover every year and jeopardises the survival of our exceptional wild fauna and flora. The use of clay balls saves 80% of energy in households, because they are a real alternative to the use of embers in our households; obtained by mixing clay, water and dried organic products, clay balls are economical, ecological and very simple to make.
With this in mind, school workshops will be set up in rural communities.
Introduction to the manufacture of mobile improved fireplaces (made of clay) will drastically reduce deforestation and provide beneficiaries with an income-generating activity.
