Beekeeping Program
Our work in the field is helping to preserve the endangered forests of the Congo Basin by promoting more environmentally-friendly beekeeping practices. The initiative aims to ensure the survival of pollinators and generate significant income to limit pressure on gorilla habitat, while strengthening the resilience of Congolese beekeepers in the face of climate change and promoting the empowerment and integration of women through the field-school approach to producers.
Artemis Africa is one of the leading suppliers of raw honey from the mountain gorilla habitat, since 2019; this is an organic flower honey or all-flower honey that lets you enjoy creamy flavours, reflecting the biological richness of its environment.
This creamy honey is packaged and preserved without any additives, making it one of the most appreciated and consumed in the region. The hives are set up in the vicinity of the Congo's national parks!
Our honey is naturally rich in fructose (over 80%), and contains amino acids and water that help strengthen the immune system and have extremely powerful antibacterial properties.
